The Laiken is the newest wedding venue on the North Shore of Lake Travis. Walters Wedding Estates opened it in Lago Vista in August 2026, with a waterfront ballroom, a poolside clubhouse and room for weddings of up to about 225 guests.

It also has on-site casitas for about 58 guests. For a wedding of 150, that leaves most of the guest list looking for a bed.

Why not a hotel?

Lago Vista has very few hotel rooms, and most of the hotels couples find on a map are in Cedar Park, Leander or Austin. That is a long drive back after the reception, and the families end up split across several properties.

The Island fixes that: a gated resort on its own peninsula, close to the venue, where every guest has a private villa and the whole group shares the same pools.

Tips for a wedding weekend at The Laiken

Book as soon as the date is set. Spring and fall weekends at The Island fill early.
Make it a long weekend. Arrive Thursday, enjoy the resort Friday, celebrate Saturday, brunch together Sunday.
Plan the ride home. A shared shuttle from The Island to The Laiken keeps everyone safe after the reception.
Lodging only. Celebrations belong at the venue. The villas are for staying, and The Island’s resort rules and quiet hours apply.
