Planning a Bachelorette Party at The Island on Lake Travis

Planning a Bachelorette Party at The Island on Lake Travis

The Island works well for a bachelorette weekend, for a specific reason: you get a resort’s facilities without a hotel’s constraints. Private villas, a pool, a spa, and a restaurant on site — and Austin close enough for a night out.

Here is how to plan one properly.

Book villas together, not one big unit

Above roughly eight people, several neighbouring villas beat one large space every time. More bathrooms — the thing that actually determines how a morning goes — plus more kitchen space and somewhere for the early risers to make coffee.

We manage a large share of the villas here, so putting a group in adjacent units is straightforward. Ask; it is not something you can arrange by filtering a search page.

Be clear about what this is

The villas are private residences let for stays, not event spaces. That distinction matters.

Entirely fine: a group of friends enjoying the pool, dinner on a deck, drinks, music at a reasonable volume, a spa afternoon.

Not fine: amplified sound, guests beyond the stated occupancy, or anything that reads as an event. The resort enforces quiet hours, and neighbouring villas are occupied by families.

Every bachelorette group we host manages this without difficulty. It is worth saying plainly so nobody is surprised.

Building the weekend

Friday — arrive, settle in, dinner at the on-site restaurant. Nobody drives after a travel day.

Saturday — the resort day. Pool in the morning, spa treatments booked ahead, boat time from the marina if the weather cooperates, tennis if the group is competitive. Dinner either cooked in one villa or out in Lago Vista.

Sunday — either the wineries about an hour west along the 290 corridor, or a slow morning by the pool before checkout.

If the group wants a night out, Austin is 40 minutes — arrange transport both ways in advance rather than relying on ride-share for the return.

Practical details

Book early. Spring and early summer weekends are peak bachelorette season here and villas go months ahead.

Sort the money first. One person books and collects. Split by villa and bed quality rather than a flat per-head figure — the person on a sofa bed paying the same as the couple in the primary bedroom is the most common source of friction.

Groceries on the way in. Stock up in Cedar Park or Leander en route; it is a long round trip once you are here.

Book the spa ahead. Weekend slots fill, particularly for several people at once.

Check the lake. If a boat day is central, read the water level guide first.

Why here rather than downtown Austin

You get a pool, a kitchen, and space to actually talk — and the city is available rather than unavoidable. It usually costs less per person than equivalent hotel rooms, and it is far better suited to a group that wants to spend time together rather than crossing paths in a lobby.
